Our furniture work

All pieces are made using traditional joinery, meaning
hand-cut dovetails for cases and drawers, and mortise and tenon joints
for tables, doors and frames. Whenever we need to use a machine, we
follow it up with hand tools to achieve a better fit or finish. All
carving is done by hand. All turning is done by hand (of course the
motor turns the piece – apprentices no longer are willing to crank a
hand lathe!). Moldings are made and installed one element at a time.
Our cabinet work

We also make furniture-grade kitchen cabinets,
mantels, built-ins and entertainment centers. For this type of work, we
use modern materials and techniques for the cases, and traditional
materials and techniques for the doors and drawers and applied details.
This keeps the cost down for pieces that have a shorter expected useful
life than furniture, and has proven to be a satisfactory compromise
between beauty and cost, and between form and function.
